LeeAnn M. Donovan, Enrolled Agent

Just wanted to take a moment and tell you a little bit about myself so you have a better understanding of who I am and what I am about;

Way back when (20+ years ago) while attending Hesser college for my accounting degree, I found myself in a tax class needing more explanations than the professor wanted to provide but he suggested additional tax courses for me. At that point I was hooked and needed to learn more in depth tax theory. After graduating, I landed my first accounting job at Motorola and was simultaneously attending tax courses through a tax company chain. Then I proceeded to sit for the Enrolled Agent exam before the IRS. I pride myself in improving my tax knowledge by taking 25-30+ hours of tax courses per year. I’m continually trying to stay on top of current tax laws and changes through online research and study to better meet my individual client’s needs and demands. Some of my stronger areas of study are rental properties, self employed individuals, investments and restricted stock unit sales.

During the off season, summer and fall I continue to be on call for clients, assisting some clients with completing extensions and meeting with new clients. I try to continuously educate and stay up with new tax law changes and trends to stay current for you. Of course that isn’t all I do. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends doing the fun things during the summer including cookouts, beaches, road trips, Red Sox games, fishing, boating, and swimming.

When the tax season comes upon us, I have a refreshed, energized, and excited feeling when I begin reconnecting and talking with my clients about their year, and events or changes that have occurred. During the conversations I try to tap into the newly learned resources and education I have gained to see if it may apply to their particular needs. In the back of my mind I am always thinking “how can I save them from paying more taxes than necessary this year?”

I love to work in the tax industry because I feel that with my years of knowledge gained, I am able to help and assist people to get closer to achieving their dreams and reaching their goals. It’s important to me that we can discuss financial goals together yearly. I want to be sure my clients understand their financial situations each year and that they understand why they are getting the refund they are due, or pay the balance due with little to no surprises. I prioritize working together and planning for the next year to allow for collaborative end results.

Why an Enrolled Agent?

An enrolled agent is a person who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service by either passing a three-part comprehensive IRS test, or through experience as a former IRS employee. Individuals who obtain this elite status must adhere to ethical standards and complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years. Enrolled agents are unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent and what types of tax matters they can handle. Don’t go before the IRS alone. If you or your business is facing a tax audit our enrolled agents can help.
